Blooming Roses.

DSC_0051

Slowly, softly
the tender bud
shrouded in foliage
unfurls.

Uncurling petals,
rich and sweet
release their fragrance
to the heat.

Prickly, sharp
the pointed needles
from among the leaves
bite.

Carefully, lovingly,
the gardener choses
which buds to keep
by his side.
