Unafraid

Thunder,
lightning
and
the path ahead
is
empty,
frightening.

Outside the window –
darkness
dominates the sky.

You tense
slightly
just as the sun
bids
a final goodbye.

No person,
no house
for miles around.

No gps ,
no network,
any second now
you’ll start to worry
and be filled with doubt.

No way towards
the highway
we’re all but lost.

Thunderstorms,
in the middle
of
nowhere
are
one of my
worst nightmares.

And yet, I’m unafraid.
