Boxed, broken memories

Boxes littered in every space
half full of fragmented memories.
All stifled in bubble-wrap
to fade away in the attic.

Halved sets of china,
incomplete sets of cutlery
One from a pair of crystal flutes
One half of a wedding portrait
One quarter of a family
One lifetime of enduring stories.

Maybe someday, the trinkets will be lost
and perhaps, the shadow on my finger will fade
But what of the broken promises?
And of the heartache that does not fade?

Inspired by the childhood game of creating boxes on an empty piece of paper. 😀 Yes! The mind does work in crazy ways. 😀

Yearning

Maybe letters
are better afterall.
In them,
I can touch
the words that
oozed out of you.

Maybe paper
is sentimental
for in your absence
I can touch
something
once of yours.

Connection

You don’t
have to
speak;
but I
know when
you’re unhappy
just
the same.

I don’t
have to
feign ignorance;
but
I do
just
the same.

Years
together,
arm in arm
have condensed
to
reading
what’s left
unsaid.

My homage to my best friend. You knew it was about you without me even saying so. 🙂

Fireworks

Red streaked sky, water rushing by…
A kerosene lamp illuminates
the boat’s inside.

A soft, lingering kiss
and fireworks light up the sky.

Dancing amongst the Moonrays

Screen Shot 2014-04-18 at 6.27.03 pm

Let us play
on a moonlit night
with the falling rays
that barely illumine.

I want to
mould your hands
into indescribable shapes
and create shadows
that tell our tale.

Unafraid

Thunder,
lightning
and
the path ahead
is
empty,
frightening.

Outside the window –
darkness
dominates the sky.

You tense
slightly
just as the sun
bids
a final goodbye.

No person,
no house
for miles around.

No gps ,
no network,
any second now
you’ll start to worry
and be filled with doubt.

No way towards
the highway
we’re all but lost.

Thunderstorms,
in the middle
of
nowhere
are
one of my
worst nightmares.

And yet, I’m unafraid.

Coffee camaraderie

I see your gaze
slither
to my face,
whenever I stir
from the book
in my hands.

I see you look away
from your screen
ever so slightly
towards where I sit.

I catch you
sneak a peak
repeatedly.

And…
just as I think
you’ll never make a move
you do.

Dear stranger
at the coffee shop –
I enjoyed meeting you
and
I didn’t regret
the invasion of privacy.
